SB1000 reports “A/B swapped”
An address responded during the optional inverted-polarity scan. Check the physical data-line wiring and verify it with a normal scan.
Correct and verify the wiring
- Record the physical port, affected address, scan settings, and firmware version.
- Inspect A/B wiring against the SB1000 and field-device documentation. Manufacturer terminal labels are not always consistent.
- At an appropriate maintenance point, have the identified data-pair wiring corrected. Confirm the wiring path before changing the entire bus when only one branch/device is affected.
- Scan again with normal polarity and check for a valid reply at the expected serial settings. Then read a known point.
- Check for duplicate addresses or remaining parity problems. The inverted scan is less conclusive about those conditions.
The option is explicitly experimental and does not work with all equipment. No warning does not prove that the data pair is correct. Its temporary inversion is not a permanent wiring correction.
This result concerns RS485 data polarity. It is not an instruction to swap AC supply conductors. Supply/common-reference arrangements require the connected equipment's wiring instructions.
Expected result
The field device answers normally with the corrected wiring. Exit commissioning and verify production communication. If detection remains inconsistent, provide the normal and inverted results and a wiring sketch without credentials.
